iMac Setup Instructions

1) To begin the setup process, go to your Apple Menu in the upper left corner of the screen. Move your mouse down to "Internet Access" and select "Internet Setup Assistant" from the menu that extends out from "Internet Access". The screenshot on the right should look similar to yours when you perform this task. When you are finished, a new window will pop up. Press the "Continue" link at the bottom of this page to move on.

2) This step is a fairly simple one. Press "Yes". (It happens to be the obvious answer as well). Then press continue at the bottom to go on.

3) Do you already have an internet account? Yes. Press Yes. Then press continue.

4) This next page will give you an outline of what the rest of the Internet Setup Assistant will go through. You can browse this if you want. When you are finished, press the right arrow in the lower right. Then press continue on this page.

5) In this window, you can name the connection whatever you would like. We recommend naming it "KC Online" or "HoosierLink" since we are your current service provider, but if you want to name it something like "Bob's Account" we really don't have any problem with that. At the bottom select Modem* for how you will be connecting to the internet. Then press the right arrow at the bottom right and the Continue button on the bottom of the screen.

6) Here you can select which modem you are using. If you are using an iMac (and you should be since you're in the iMac instructions) you should choose the "iMac Internal 56k" and it will be in the "Internal Modem" Port. If you are using some other type of modem, select it here instead. Select the type of phone line you have (tone or pulse)* and click the right arrow to continue. Then press Continue at the bottom.

7) Enter the phone number that is local to you in the top box. If you are not sure which number you should be using, see our Access Number Page for the one that is local to you.* Enter your username and password in the corresponding blanks and make sure they are all lowercase and have no spaces in them. Then press the right arrow and the continue link to go on.

8)On this next page click on the circle that says "No". Then press the right arrow and the Continue button at the bottom.

9)Select the "No" circle on this next page. Then press the right arrow and Continue to go on.

10) Fill out the following screen as it appears on the right. The DNS numbers should be 216.241.132.3 and 216.241.132.2

The Domain Name should be kconline.com. Press the right arrow and then Continue to go on.

11) In this window you should fill out your email address in the top box. It should be all lowercase with no spaces. In the bottom box you should fill out your password. The password should also have no space and should be all lowercase. Press the right button and then click on Continue.

12) You can enter the same information for both of the blanks in this window. They should both be mail.kconline.com with no spaces and it should be all lowercase. Then press the right arrow and the Continue link at the bottom.

13) This next window will ask you for a newgroup host. Enter nntp.kconline.com for this blank and then press the right arrow. Click on Continue to go on.

14) You are not on a proxy server. Select No. If, by chance, you are on a proxy server, you should already have the information necessary to set up the connection for a proxy. Press the right arrow and the Continue link at the bottom to go on.

15) Good Job! You've successfully created a dial up connection. If you want to connect to the internet right now, check the box that says "Connect when finished". When you are done with this page, press "Go Ahead" to exit the Internet Setup Assistant.
