OS/2 Warp Setup

This page will help you get onto the internet using IBM's Dial Other Internet Providers (DOIP) program. There are other internet dialers available, but I will only discuss using DOIP.

First off, we will need to set the login variables. This is the easiest part of the setup, as there is no login script to make. Once connected, the login is automatic. Following the screenshots provided, change the Login ID and password to the ones you will be using, as well as the phone number.

Moving to page two of the setup, the only things to really pay attention to are the netmask, MRU Size, VJ Compression, DNS entry, and the domain name.

Set the MRU Size to 1500, and check VJ Compression if it isn't already.

Using the value for the DNS supplied to you by Hoosierlink/KCOnline, enter that in the DNS field.

The domain name is simply that of which domain you go by. You will find that with the domain name set, you can access servers within that name by just the name before the domain name.

The third page is optional, as most programs you will use require you to enter the name of the server you wish to use for that particular service anyway.

Page four is the modem setup page, and this is different for everybody. Make sure that the Dial Prefix is ATDT, as I seem to remember it being blank. Just pick your modem from the list (if it's listed) and that should be all. I use a custom init string for my modem so mine is considerably shorter than what the modem database will use.

That's it! You should now be ready to get online using OS/2 Warp.
